I received a DSLR camera for Christmas a few years ago. However, the way these new camera phones are set up, you can probably achieve an extremely clear and crisp picture with whatever you have.
Step 1: Find a preferable background. I decided on a plain white wall in my room.
Step 2: Allow as much natural lighting in as possible. It's better to take them between 11 am and 4 pm when the sun is at its brightest. Unfortunately, the sun started to set on me giving me an awful shadow. If you have studio lights, make sure to use pure white or daylight bulbs. Regular bulbs tend to give off a yellowish tinge. However, natural light is the best and the cheapest option.
Step 3: Put on your graduation cap and gown…or whatever cute outfit you chose.
Step 4: Roll up a plain white sheet of paper and tie it. This will be your “diploma.”
Step 5: Set up your camera using autofocus and self-timer. Position yourself and the camera in front of your lighting source. If you don’t have a tripod, a stack of books is fine.
Step 6: Find a pose and hold it. Pose, smile and repeat.
Out of 70 photos, I found about 5 that I liked. HA! You can leave your pictures as they are but where is the fun in that. Now it’s time to edit them. Like I mentioned before, I’m a recent graduate so fancy photoshop programs are out of the question. Check out the site picmonkey.com. The site allows you to edit and crop photos how you like, add words, create grad announcements or invitations. Then you can share them with your family and friends. You can even attach a PayPal.me link because why not?
Another option is to upload the picture to your phone. You can do simple quick fixes using the app Perfect365 (It’s free). If you have a little bit of money to spare, the app Facetune is $3.99.
I hope this helps. See my images below, I don’t think I did half bad.
